The Rose That Grew From The Concrete.

“You see you wouldn’t ask why the rose that grew from the concrete had damaged petals. On the contrary, we would all celebrate its tenacity. We should all love it’s will to reach the sun well, we are the roses – this is the concrete – and these are my damaged petals. Don’t ask me why, thank God nigga, ask me how!” – Tupac Shakur

I’m not a big poetry person but this poem from Tupac has stuck with me for awhile now. The power in just this excerpt of the poem is unbelievable. We all face obstacles that may leave us with insecurities and fears that leave us scarred for life. But there have been and will be a select few who keep there head up and fight through these problems. Those who fight through are read about in magazines and given lifetime achievement awards. It’s not that they are better than everyone else its just that they never gave up and were given opportunities because of their belief. I want us to believe we can make it though the concrete and be that rose with damaged petals. No matter where we come from or have been through. We will have damaged petals that comes with the fight to live. Don’t question why a person made it through whatever hardship they were dealt but question how they grew and take notes. I guarantee they believed they could make it through and didn’t stop working until their belief became a reality. Thank you.
